You Gotta Move People!
Still to this day, there seem to be two very distinct schools of thought when it comes down to video games in general. One school is Performance Oriented - focusing mostly on the games graphic, sound and online capabilities while the second school is Gameplay Oriented - shifting their attention more towards the single & multiplayer components as well as the game mechanics and so on…
What I find interesting about this isn’t that people are enthralled by these schools of thought, but rather that people don’t focus on all of it together. What good is a game with fantastic gameplay if the visuals and sound pale in comparison? And what good is it to invest in a game that is visually stunning, but you can’t control your character or do things in the game that would make sense?
The general public is happiest when it’s given what it wants. The problem with that is no one has figured out how to give us everything yet. I’m a firm believer in asking for what you want. I’m constantly in contact with gaming companies, letting them know a type of game or feature I would love to see coming down their line up. Now, it’s not like I expect to get what I want, but I can’t sit by and complain about game after game and not having done anything about it. That’s like complaining about who gets elected President when you didn’t go and vote yourself.
I suppose this post is more and urging for you to take an initiative. Every gaming company has a “Contact Us” section. Use it. Get your voice out there and share your thoughts on what you would like to see in the next Spider-man game or the next Call of Duty!
